It`s not always easy, but a scout always tries. POLITE. Be polite to everyone and always use good manners. RESPECTFUL. Be in the fear of God.
Be faithful in your religious duties. Respect the beliefs of others. FRIENDLY. Be a friend to everyone, even to people who are very different from you. LOYAL. Show that you care about your family, friends, Scout leaders, school, and country. RELIABLE. Tell the truth and keep your promises. People can count on you.
DUTY TO YOURSELF: Staying physically strong means taking care of your body. Eat the right foods and build strength. Staying mentally alert means learning everything you can, being curious, and asking questions. Being morally straight means living one`s life honestly, being pure in one`s words and actions, and being a person of strong character. OBEDIENT. Follow the rules of your family, school, and pack. Follow the laws of your municipality and country. KIND. Treat others as you would like to be treated. Never hurt or kill a living being without good reason. BRAVE.
Face difficult situations, even if you are afraid. Do what you think is right, no matter what others do or say. FRUGAL. Work to pay your way. Try not to waste. Use time, food, supplies and natural resources wisely. CHEERFUL. Look for the positive side of life. Happily complete the tasks that come your way.
Try to help others be happy. Note that the Scout Oath traditionally has three promises. These three promises are delimited by the semicolons of the oath, which divide it into three clauses.
